IVAN VILLANOVA
Graduated in clarinet, he perfects his skills with Fabio di Casola at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. He has seven awards in national and international competitions, among them the first absolute award at “Città di Stresa” in 1996. He played as First Clarinet in the Orchestra Sinfonica dell’Emilia-Romagna “Fondazione Arturo Toscanini”, in the Orchestra del Gran Teatro “La Fenice”, in the Filarmonica Veneta and in the Orchestra d’Archi Italiana. He has also collaborated with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Orchestra del Teatro “G. Verdi” of Trieste and the Symphonica Toscanini directed by Lorin Maazel, with tours in Europe, USA and Japan. He is a teacher of clarinet at the music school in Primiero (Trentino) and taught clarinet at International Specialisation Courses in Spilimbergo.
He graduated in Direction at the Istituto Superiore Europeo Bandistico with Jan Cober, Felix Hauswirth and Carlo Pirola and in 2009 he also obtained the Diploma Superiore with the highest grade ever given by the Institute. He then specialized with Jan Cober at the Bläserakademie Sächsen and with Douglas Bostock at the Bund Deutscher Blasmusikverbände. As the main Director of the Dolomiti Wind Orchestra, he guides the Banda Folkloristica Castello Tesino and the Band Città di Feltre. From 2014 he assists José Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana in the class of Direction of the International Courses of Spilimbergo.
